1. Introduction

1.1. Seminar objectives

The objectives of the seminar were essentially to link role-players around the region, and in particular KwaZulu-Natal, for whom poverty reduction was a major objective; to stimulate open debate around the issue of HIV/AIDS and land reform, and to consider a policy, strategy and implementation that is more effective in engaging the pandemic in the land reform programme in South Africa. These objectives have been detailed in section 1.4.
