The meeting arose out of a need to review the role of Parliamentarians across Africa with respect to the promotion and implementation of NEPAD. The meeting agreed that Parliaments should give much more attention to policy debates on the principles of NEPAD and to ensuring that national budgets reflect the philosophy and priorities of NEPAD.
