Managing Water Disasters and Minimizing the Vulnerability of Mozambique to Floods - Minister Roberto White

3.6 STRENGTHENING OF THE REACTION CAPACITY

With the experience of the recent floods, the INGC will improve its planning and resource mobilization for any incoming floods. This will imply not only making adequate stocks of medical drugs, food, provisional shelters and similar items and placing them in selected locations, but also coordinating the actions with the provincial and local authorities, with the Army and the Police.

It is also of extreme importance that contingency plans are prepared so that resources from other SADC countries can be quickly mobilized to upgrade the existing capacity in Mozambique.
