The Donor Funding Project at the School of Development Studies at the University of Natal, Durban, is to host an international conference on the dynamics of donor aid in the Southern African region on the 30 and 31 October this year. The conference will examine ways in which local actors and organisations can reframe development debates, policies and practice.

The conference will cover the following themes:

  • Approaches to peace, conflict and security
  • Understanding the aid chain: donors, government and civil society relationships
  • Sectoral policy and programming: international and local approaches
  • The politics of development practice
  • Southern African challenges to the aid industry, and
  • Patterns of international aid flows to the Southern African region.

Social scientists and related practitioners who wish to present papers or who wish to obtain further details about the conference should contact the organisers at donorfun@nu.ac.za
